Senior Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails (Remote)

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will drive technical execution across full-stack development while helping shape architecture and engineering standards for a distributed team. The position blends hands-on Ruby on Rails and React development with thoughtful collaboration across product and business partners. You will also contribute to system performance, API design, and the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices. This is an opportunity to influence delivery, mentor peers, and help translate business needs into reliable technical solutions.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $120,000 – $180,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Shape the technical direction of a squad with hands-on coding in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React
• Write clean, maintainable code while mentoring through code reviews and pair programming
• Design and optimize back-end systems and APIs with a focus on performance and reliability
• Create responsive front-end experiences using React, TypeScript, and CSS
• Manage relational databases and write efficient SQL to support business growth
• Lead projects from start to finish, including risk management and clear communication

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of full-stack development experience, emphasizing Ruby on Rails
• 5+ years of experience with React
• Proven record of leading projects from conception to delivery
• Passion for mentoring and guiding engineers
• Fluency with AI development tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot
• Experience with LLM APIs focusing on prompt design and safety
