Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer (3+ years of experience) to design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for digitally controlled power supplies and power management systems. The ideal candidate will work closely with hardware, systems, and test engineering teams to develop robust and efficient code that ensures performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement embedded firmware for power supply control, monitoring, and communication; execute firmware and software release processes, including the use of revision control systems.

Develop control algorithms (e.g., voltage regulation, current limiting, PFC, etc.) for AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion.

Interface with digital communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, PMBus, SMBus, GPIB, Ethernet, LXI, Modbus).

Collaborate with hardware engineers to define microcontroller/processor specifications and integrate firmware with schematics and layouts.

Perform firmware debugging, validation, and optimization using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment.

Develop and execute unit and system-level tests to ensure firmware quality and regulatory compliance (UL, IEC, etc.).

Maintain detailed documentation of firmware design, code, and system integration procedures.

Participate in design reviews and contribute to product definition and architecture decisions.

Qualifications:

Required:

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Computer, or Control Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development for power electronics or embedded systems.

Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.

Experience with control engineering, DSPs, or SoCs used in power electronics (e.g., TI, STM, Microchip, NXP).

Solid understanding of power supply topologies (buck, boost, flyback, LLC, etc.), power electronics conversion (AC-AC, AC-DC), PWM signals, DSP interfaces, and digital and analog control loops.

Familiarity with firmware development tools (compilers, debuggers, IDEs, version control).

Hands-on experience with lab equipment for testing and debugging.

Onsite position in NYC (Queens) office.

H1B visa sponsorship is available.

Preferred:

Knowledge of digital control techniques for power systems (PID, current-mode control, etc.).

Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or bare-metal programming.

Familiarity with compliance standards for safety, EMI/EMC, and reliability.

Experience with automated test systems or scripting (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
