Job Title: Computational/Transformational Physicist - Active Clearance required
Duration: 3+ years
Client: Defense Research Lab
Location: Lexington, MA – 100% Remote
Description: Full lifecycle application development. Designing, coding, and debugging applications in various software languages. Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis. Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD). Software modeling and simulation. Front end graphical user interface design. Software testing and quality assurance. Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation. Supports, maintains, and documents software functionality. Integrates software with existing systems. Evaluates and identifies new technologies for implementation. Maintains standards compliance. Implements localization or globalization of software.
Background/Need:
The group at seeks a full-time software engineer to join our research team of quantum information and computing scientists. We are looking for a candidate that would aid in the development of software tools to support our research. This candidate would support research in the areas of fault-tolerant quantum error correction, gate-level implementation of quantum algorithms, development of compilation and scheduling tools, and modeling of error in quantum systems.

Key responsibilities include:
• Development of software libraries for the realization of various software layers in the quantum computing stack.
• Unit and system testing of the team’s developed software.
• Integration of software into medium-scale research project environment.
• Perform modeling and simulation using the team’s software tools to provide performance analysis of quantum circuits.
• Optimization and parallelization of software tools for high-performance computing platforms. For standard processors as well as hardware accelerators such as GPUs.

• Work Location: Fully Remote with Potential domestic travel 1-2 times a year for PMR's.
