Job Description

Rust Engineer

Fully Remote

£80,000 - £90,000

A Rust Engineer is required to join an AI security start-up company building cutting-edge technology focused on securing autonomous AI agents and agentic systems. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside highly respected engineers in the open-source and security space, helping shape the future of AI runtime security.

You’ll join a small, high-trust engineering team working on an open-source security runtime and related enterprise security tooling used to govern how AI agents execute code, interact with APIs, and operate safely at scale.

As a Rust Engineer, you’ll contribute directly to the core runtime, SDKs, and supporting infrastructure, taking ownership of meaningful engineering work from day one. You’ll collaborate closely with senior engineers across systems design, security, observability, infrastructure, and developer experience while contributing publicly to open-source projects and communities.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in building reliable, maintainable systems, with Rust and ideally one of the following: Go, TypeScript, or Python
  • Involvement and contributions to open-source projects or ownership of public technical work
  • Interest in systems programming, security, infrastructure, or developer tooling
  • Strong understanding of clean code, testing, debugging, and performance considerations
  • Curiosity around AI systems, adversarial thinking, and secure software design
  • Background in application security, systems security, supply chain security, or offensive security, highly desirable
  • Experience working with CI/CD, observability, release tooling, or cloud infrastructure would be great
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tooling responsibly within engineering workflows
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-moving engineering environment
  • Excellent written communication skills for documentation, design discussions, and code reviews

They are offering a salary of £80,000 - £90,000 plus equity, and the role is fully remote, but you must be based within the UK in order to apply.

This Rust Engineer role would suit someone wanting to be part of an early start up, with strong technical skills, and ideally with experience in open-source would be great, someone who has a passion for systems, security, and developer tooling. If you’re a Software Engineer with experience in Rust and looking to work on technically ambitious open-source security products with real-world impact, this is an outstanding opportunity to join a fast-moving team at an early stage.
