As Technical Lead, Functional Safety for AI, you will bridge automotive functional safety, system architecture and embedded AI, while leading innovation across a specialist Safety & AI team. The Technical Lead, Functional Safety for AI will influence future safety strategies, technologies and products, making this an exciting opportunity for a senior engineer looking to shape the next generation of safe automotive AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AI safety innovation projects and translate strategic roadmaps into execution.
- Define safety concepts and mechanisms for AI-enabled automotive systems.
- Drive model validation, robustness testing, fault injection and runtime safety activities.
- Coordinate projects across architecture, NPI and applications teams.
- Feed project findings into the wider Safety & AI roadmap.
- Provide technical leadership to the Safety & AI innovation team.

Required Experience & Skills
Essential
- 10+ years' experience with safety-critical embedded systems in automotive.
- Strong, hands-on ISO 26262 expertise.
- System safety architecture, safety concepts and safety requirements experience.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML in embedded or automotive systems.
- Proven technical leadership across complex engineering projects.
Desirable
- IEC 61508 or ISO/PAS 8800 experience.
- ADAS, autonomous driving, perception, radar or computer vision background.
- AI/ML validation, fault injection or runtime monitoring experience.
- Automotive semiconductor, SoC or embedded compute experience.
- Previous people-management experience.
- MSc/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
